The Story Behind the Avatar
Answer
15/12/04 12:55
Sorry, ElinaMaria, but here I go again! My head is spinning :laughing5: :laughing5: with all these avatars! They're wonderful.

Some are just what I would have expected, but others are surprising! All of them tell me a lot more about all of you.

How did you choose yours? What does it tell me about you? Will you change it or is this your trademark? Share this new story with me, please?

My avatar is pretty obvious, but I need to credit TNT for help in acquiring it. He found just the right pic for me to "personalize" with my name and a few gray hairs!

Although I'm not really a chef, this just fits the name! And, I think I'll keep it for the duration!

Chef,

I already admired your atavar! It is fantastic!

I have just chosen mine from the gallery. I like it because it is a bit like me with dark, not very long hair. And I love to wear sunglasses.
It is like in that song from Sting: I am a stranger to the sun, my eyes are too weak...

Ok... Chefmomster... since I asked what will be the next one you're asking I quess I need to answer for this one. :happy7: My avatar is simply my quinea-pig, Fanni. I just cut her head (how cruel that sounds emoticon ) out of bigger picture to get the correct size. Then I just played a little with it and got that background which makes her a bit shiny. I like the picture so I'm going to keep it for a while. But I also have other cute quinea-pig and I think she needs some attention too. So if I get a good picture of her, I'll probably change it for a while and then again back to Fanni.

P.S. Even I was accusing you for being curious, this is nice way to know more about other users. And I can satisfy my own curiosity too...

Many times I've been asked if I ever go to sleep because people see me in Griddlers all the time. One day, during one of our a chat meetings cruinne solved the mystery of my endless time. He coined a new Time Zone: Hagit Standard Time  TZ:HST

In HST zone the clock hands don't move. Ever. The day doesn't have limited hours. No sleep is required. :-)

That's my avatar. Not only the clock digits fell down, one digit is missing. On purpose, of course. LOL

Mine I made myself. :happy5: I wanted an avatar I made myself, even though the ones in the gallary are absolutely amazing.

I will probably change, this one is bit, umm, "too much" but it'll do for now.

If you can't tell, it's simply a colour bucket fill in thing that went from one colour at the top to another at the bottom. Put a Weave pattern over this, then add the nick in another colour, and voila.

This is an avatar I used once on another forum as it is somewhat represent my real name (I usually go by my real name in forums, I can't for the life of me remember why I registered this site under a nick name :? ). To day on other forums, I use another version made by my son (same motive though). Having registered under a nick I've decided to use the old one (which I found on the web) rather than my personalized

Well, I've been looking through all of my photo's this evening, but I couldn't really find one that represented 'me'. The colors were to soft or to dark or it would just not give the right impression.
And then I thought of the griddlers I've been making. They are 'me' at least in the way that I made them up myself and I chose the things I like most, bright colors and sunny subjects.

I'm not a beach-person in the way of lying down all day for a week on the same beach in front of my hotel. But when I'm on a holiday I love to go to the seaside, walk along it, look for shells and other stuf to find, that sort of thing. And of course sunset is the most beautifull part of the day!

And because I didn't want it to be a standard 'Sunset at the Beach' picture, I made the mountains purple and gave the sun a swirl. And thanks to TNT :notworthy: , it's actually moving now!

Bye, Jelga :sunny:

My current avatar is just a picture of one of my cats, Calvin. At the time of the picture he was about two months old, and the picture was a lucky shot.

I think I will change my picture after some time, perhaps when I find a better picture, or shoot a better photo. Maybe I will use some of my pictures I've used for my puzzles...

As some of you may know, I am as cool, smart, and interesting as it gets. My avatar is known in most circles as Master Chief, Spartan 117, or, simply, the main character in the Halo games on Xbox. I recently got Xbox Live (it TOTALLY rocks) and I play Halo 2 online every day. If anyone else happens to have this (Halo 2 + Xbox live) I would love to have you on my friends list. Just send me a requst and mention the site, and I'll accept it poste haste - youy can even join the Clan I created (15 members strong so far). My Gamertag is DemonicLlama. Hope to get many interesting (but not as interesting as me) messages here and on Xbox Live.

As I already said once, my nick 'cruinne' stands for 'universe' or 'world' in Irish. So I simply picked one of my favourite pictures of a nebula, the Ghost Nebula to be precise, and I use it whenever I appear as 'cruinne'...

Doesn't say much. Well, it doesn't say anything :-), but I like it.

Well I just like cats, that's why I took this standard avatar.
We have four cats, Jamo and Nemo are our Burmese cats (Dutch people will understand the joke)and we also have two Abessinian cats: Suki races as fast as a Susuki-motorbike and his brother Indi is slower, makes more noise, eats more and therefore resembles this famous old Indian motorbike.

Up to now I'm the only one having their's own photo. I picked it a loong time ago and managed to lose it and forget it, but now I did sime search and at least I know when it was taken.
I am not a photogenic person, so I have really few photos where I look like a human and not like a monster, especially, that usually I take photos and let others take photos of me only when I'm drunk.
This one was also made somewhere near an end of a long drinking evening, on fourth november last year, other photos in this catalogue tell me it was MENSA's regional group meeting at my house. Suprisingly I found there quite a lot of good pictures of myself and this one was just perfectly straight and needed just to be resized.

And I have a photograph of myself because I'm too much of too many things to find something apropriate other than a good photo of me. On other forums though, I usually use ready-made avatar of a traveler - because this is the closest to the meaning of my user name (and for my username go to "User Names" topic ;) ) and because I "lost" this photo until today.

I sort of have "my own photo" too. There's this lego-website somewhere out there where you can create your own lego-figure. I tried to build myself: redhead, love purple clothes, not too fancy dressed, adoring coffee and messing with paint.

My only regret is I can't get more than 2 arms with tools attached (both in the image as in real-life). I love to do lots of things, preferably simultaneously.

My avatar is just me. This photo was taken in July 2005 in England. Me and my friends did not work then yet and we were bored so we decided to do weird make-ups and dress in black and have a 'gothic' party. I'm not sure if the result was really gothic but my friends looked really amazing in black and silver make-up. We also took candles and did some other strange photos. There were problems later to wash the make up but we had fun nevertheless emoticon

Mine is Rolo Avila - my fav. ball player from the Bridgeport (Connecticut) Bluefish baseball team. I used to love to watch him play because he really went out of his way in each game to do better than the game before.

Unfortunately, he now plays for the Pensacola (Florida) Pelicans baseball team.

Maybe when I move back home to Ga. I'll be able to go see him play again.

P.S. Can't deny he's a very attractive (& nice) guy too. emoticon

Now that I've uploaded my avatar, here's the scoop behind it:

One very unproductive Friday afternoon at work, a bunch of us went to a site where you can create pictures based on South Park characters, and we all made pictures of ourselves there. What you see is what I came up with. I added the speech bubble in afterwards using the Windows Paint program. You can't read it at this rez, but it says "Show me the 'coasters!", a reference to my passion for roller coasters. (I'll try any 'coaster once, and if I like it, chances are, I'll get right back in line.)

I've since used it on Windows Live Messenger, and now I'm using it here.

Years ago (and still) a group of my friends started to great each other with "muh" (mooh), I don't even remember why, I don't know if anyone of us do... Anyway, besides that I'm an animal lover, and I think cows are cool, and this particular cow is one of the coolest I've seen. I also love the blue sky, it means the sun is shining! Not much of a story behind mine (as yet...)
But I do have a special affinity (read: obsession ;P) for furry creatures, particularly of the feline variety--though dogs are nice too [just don't tell my cat, he hates 'em!]

I might change it, perhaps to a pic of my own meowster (name: Errol), just as soon as I get around to it... In fact, I think I'll go do that now- just have to switch to my own computer for the files--

EDIT: Done!!

I create my own avatars. I pick and choose based on my color mood. A good deal of them happen to be fanart as well, but then the puzzles I also enjoy creating puzzles for series for people to do. The one I have currently is Ichigo's hollow mood from Bleach. At this point I'm not planning on changing it any time soon.

I am an avid hiker of the Appalachian Trail and thus the Avatar of a backpacker. Years ago I was given the trail name of cruiser, since I slowly cruised along the trail. I decided then to make the spelling unique. I am know on the trail as Croozer.

Mine is a poster from a 2008 episode of Futurama. I think it's very funny.
