Proxy Setting
Respuesta
23/08/04 16:53
I have seen an X instead of the Java coffee cup on an intermittent basis lately. I'm on Internet Explorer. I suspect that it may be a firewall problem because I only see it when I am on a particular network. However I don't see it all the time. I saw it trying several times, gave up on doing puzzles and a few hours later tried again successfuly.

Hi

this error appears also when I change my proxy, I am using laptop in several networks. Java plugin loads proxy settings on startup, so when you ( or automatic proxy ) change the proxy settings, plugin runs on wrong settings.

You can control this in Control panel->Java plugin->Proxies . You can setup proxy for plugin different to browser settings.

Bye Ra100

Hi Ra100,

I don't think the problem was the proxy settings. The java consol was showed the current proxy settings above the stuff I copied. They appeared to be correct for my location at the time. I had trouble before with the problem you mention, so I was already aware of it.

Regards,
Pat

Oops! I spoke too soon. There was a problem with my proxy settings on my new laptop. For some reason IE was working okay despite that but java wasn't connecting sometimes. I corrected that and it seems okay now.

Thanks,
Pat
