Are you able to use X or O?  This really helps with a puzzle like this one.

Look at column 12 and 15.  There cannot be blues in the squares I've marked.
Now look at row 29. You should be able to place a few squares of the blue 8.

Helped a LITTLE. I'm not really fond of Xs and Os.

Try to solve the blue (white) stuff of the bottom part like a monochrome puzzle (using the X's and ignoring the black stuff). Worked pretty well for me.

Take a look @ the 1st & 4th column.  Mark off the spots in the 1st colum you know can't be black because the white doesn't start until the 4th column.  This should narrow down where exactly the head is in the picture.  With that in mind, you also know that the 1st row is the very top of the head.  Using the clues in those areas, you'll not only form the head, but starting with the left side of the body.

BTW, nothing against the artist or the pic, but the neck almost reminds me of a flamingo neck (long/skinny).
