Class not found exception and other messages

I just updated Java and I get error messages no matter how I try to start a puzzle.  I got error messages on webstart and Igridd.  I'm using Firefox for my browser.   Help!

Also, I tried to delete then reinstall webstart. This worked before but not this time.  I got an error message about a problem with the address.  I'll go back and find the exact message then edit this again.

Error message is:  connect: address in invalid on local machine.

Hi
this is very interesting error message. I have found several possible causes on google. Top two are:
1. Kasperski antivirus: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=254205
2. IPv4 vs IPv6 - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11850655/how-i-can-disable-ipv6-stack-use-for-ipv4-ips-on-jre
Just run this command on Windows cmd:
setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
Rasto.

I just updated Kaspersky from a trial version.  I have the feeling that Kaspersky might be the problem but the link you posted was in German.  I'll try to find an English translation.  Thanks.

To make a long story short - No more Kaspersky, no more problems.  The problems included dealing with several security issues that were not detected, my first-ever hacked credit card info and interference with any program that had any connection whatsoever to Java.
