ritulia | So, which one is this - Nefertiti or Nefertari? ;-) |
jazhara7 | It's Nefertiti. We do not know exactly which vowels were used in the Ancient Egyptian language, though we know *where* in the worlds. So the name would basically be written "Nfr.t-jy.tj". In English the common usage is "Nefertiti" for this queen (the wife of Echnaton and likely Mother of Tutanchamun, which you probably know throught the Gold and Lapislazuli death mask). In German however, the name is written "Nofretete". The original common usage was "Naftete". You see what I'm getting at. It can get confusing. Anyway, this is Nefetiti, specifically an artists bust found in an artists workshop in Tel El-Amarna (Akethaton), and now displayed (rather prominently) in Berlin. It's finally back on the Museum Island after having been moved during the second World War. |
