The puzzle can be solved with logic only, otherwise the puzzle would not validate during construction.

It's extremely difficult to do the right side of the picture without making a heck of a lot of assumptions. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think it's a good puzzle if you have to resort to making assumptions in order to solve it.
